League of Legends Ranks

The ranked ladder in 2026 is still Iron through Challenger. Emerald sits between Platinum and Diamond, the same shape Riot shipped in 2023. Promos between divisions were removed years ago: you cross a division when LP reaches 100.

  1. 1

    Iron

Four divisions. The ladder starts here after placements.

  2. 2

    Bronze

Four divisions. Most new accounts settle nearby once placements finish.

  3. 3

    Silver

Four divisions. Lane basics and death count matter more than champion mastery.

  4. 4

    Gold

Four divisions. A common season goal. Vision and reset timing start to split games.

  5. 5

    Platinum

Four divisions. Players punish missed waves. One-trick comfort is not enough if the map is losing.

  6. 6

    Emerald

Four divisions, added in 2023 and still between Platinum and Diamond.

  7. 7

    Diamond

Four divisions. Queue times grow. Draft and side-lane assignments decide series.

  8. 8

    Master

No divisions. You climb on LP. Decay rules apply if you stop playing.

  9. 9

    Grandmaster

LP cutoff. The ladder is small enough that one loss streak moves your rank.

  10. 10

    Challenger

The top LP slice of the server. Spots are capped.

What actually moves LP

A win adds LP. A loss removes it. The amount is larger when the matchmaker thinks you are far from the rank it expects, and smaller when you are near it. Dodging a champ select still costs LP and can cost a queue lock. Leaving a started game counts as a loss and a leaver penalty.

Placements at the start of a season drop you near your last visible rank, not to Iron, unless the account is new. Master and above have inactivity decay. If you care about a cutoff, play the decay game before the weekend you travel.

Patch 26.20 is a balance patch, so your champion pool may have moved even though the ladder did not. Check the tier list and the 26.20 notes before you first-time a nerfed pick in a promotion game.

FAQ

How many ranks are in League of Legends?
Ten tiers: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster, and Challenger. Iron through Diamond have divisions IV, III, II, and I. Master and above use LP only.
Did patch 26.20 change ranked?
Patch 26.20 changes champion and item numbers. It does not restructure the ladder. Your LP gains still depend on the matchmaking result, not on the Worlds patch notes.
What is a LoL ranker?
Players searching lol ranker usually want a ladder lookup. This page explains the tiers. Live LP for a summoner name is on the regional client and on sites that read Riot's account API.
